Quarter 3 Standards
The following are a few of the standards that will be covered:
READING
I can ask and answer questions about key details in a text.
I can retell familiar stories including key details.
I can identify characters, setting, and major events in a story.
I can name and define the roles of a text's author and illustrator.
I can describe the relationship between illustrations and the text in which they appear.
I can compare and contrast texts on the same topic and characters in familiar stories.
I can actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding.
I can recognize that spoken words correspond to printed words and are read from left to right and top to bottom and are separated by spaces in print.
I can demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds [phonemes].
I can decode grade level words and read high frequency words by sight.
I can read emergent texts with purpose and understanding.
WRITING
I can use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to narrate a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in the order in
which they occurred, and provide a reaction to what happened.
I can add details to strengthen writing in response to questions and suggestions from peers.
I can recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.
MATH
I can count to 100 by ones and tens.
I can count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence.
I can write numbers from 0-20.
I can represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20.
I can understand the relationship between numbers and quantities.
I can count use counting to answer questions such as, "How many objects are there?"
I can identify whether the number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group.
I can compare two numbers between 1 and 10 when presented as written numerals.
I can represent addition and subtraction in a variety of ways.
I can solve addition and subtraction word problems and add and subtract within 10.
I can decompose numbers less than or equal to 10 into pairs in more than one way and record each pair using drawing or equation.
I can find the number that "makes 10" when added to a given number and record the answer with drawing or equation.
I can fluently add and subtract within 1-5.
I can correctly name shapes regardless of their orientation or size.
I can identify shapes as two-dimensional or three-dimensional and describe their similarities and differences.
I can model shapes in the world by building shapes from components and drawing shapes.
SCIENCE
